“Being married to a black man is like modern day slavery” – Huddah Monroe

Curvy Kenyan Socialite Huddah Monroe has bared her mind on why she feels 99% of women married to black men are unhappy. She pointed out that ‘black men hate to see their women prosper’ Is this true ?? Well, below is what she shared on her social media ; why is it that 99% of women married to black men are always unhappy? Frustrated, they have low self esteem, looking sad and disappionted with life? It’s like being married to a black man is modern day slavery. From my own observation, most black men hate to see a woman prosper. They hate to see you doing good. Thet hate to elevate you, so they crash your dreams, they tell you all the negative things about you so that you can have low self esteem, Once you have low self esteem, you have nothing left but them coz of how bad you’d be feeling about yourself. Then boom, their mission is accomplished, then they can toy with you anyhow! anytime! MAY GOD FORBID! Emotional abuse is worse than physical abuse. When someone ...

Police gun down suspected cattle rustler

Oleh 9jahive Blog - October 29, 2017
Olaide Oyelude, Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command said on Sunday that its operatives had gunned down a suspected cattle rustler during an exchange of fire along Sakwattawa-Shawere cattle route.
The command’s spokesman, DSP Gambo Isah, disclosed the development in a statement made available to journalists in Katsina.
According to him, one Ibrahim Gai  of Aidun Hassan Village in the Danmusa Local Government Area of the state  had reported to the police  that some  unidentified cattle rustlers invaded their settlement at about 3.30am  on October 23, 2017 and stole their livestock.

Gambo said members of Operation Sharan-Daji were dispatched to the settlement and the cattle routes in the area, adding that the cattle rustlers, on sighting the team, engaged them in a gun duel during which a suspect died while his accomplices fled.
He further revealed that one AK-47 with 16 rounds of live ammunition, two magazines, four cows and one Boxer motorcycle with chassis number 60927 were recovered from the fleeing cattle rustlers.
The police spokesman said investigation had already begun into the incident.
Meanwhile, the command also disclosed that it had also arrested some suspected members of a notorious syndicate which specialised in carjacking in the state.
It gave the names of the suspects as Ahmed Mohammed of Kinkina Street, Unguwar Rimi, Kaduna State and Usman Mohammed of Kerau Quarters, Katsina State.
The command said the suspects were intercepts about 3am on October 26, 2017 at Kongolam Village, on the border of Katsina State and Niger Republic.
It said the suspects were attempting to escape into Niger Republic with a stolen Toyota 4Runner vehicle with registration number, ABJ 225 TL, which they allegedly stole from Abuja.
Police investigation reportedly revealed that the vehicle belonged to an official of the Standards Organisation Nigeria.
Isah said the suspects were making useful statements to the police to assist in its investigation.

Biafra Youth League reveals ‘real reason’ Gowon ceded Bakassi to Cameroon

Oleh 9jahive Blog - October 28, 2017

Biafra Nations Youth League, BNYL, has revealed ‘real reason’ behind the ceding of Bakassi Peninsula to Cameroon.
Deputy Leader of BNYL and Head of Operations of the online Biafra Broadcasting Service, Ebuta Ogar Takon, blamed General Yakubu Gowon for the loss.
"Gowon and Adhijo of Cameroon first went into agreement to see the defeat of Biafra from that angle”, Takon, an Ejagham native of Cross River State, said.
“Obasanjo came in and facilitated the agreement in his tenure, Jonathan came in and did not have a say on the issue”, he added.
Takon noted that during the period, former British Southern Cameroons were asked to vote whether to remain in Nigeria or Cameroon.
“While they voted to leave Nigeria, Bakassi voted to remain with her kits and kin, the Efiks.

“So it is a case of annexation caused by underground agreement, many Bakassi people are ignorant of the role Gowon played at first until we told them, the evidence are there, that was why during the war Cameroon sided him”.

He stressed that the ‘Green Tree’ agreement that finally ceded the region to Cameroon during Obasanjo regime was just formality, as it has never been obeyed.

England win U17 World Cup: Young Lions fight back to beat Spain in final

Oleh 9jahive Blog - October 28, 2017
England produced a sensational performance to come from 2-0 down to thrash Spain 5-2 and win the Under-17 World Cup in India.
The Three Lions had never gone beyond the quarter-finals in the tournament before but emulated England U20s who won their World Cup in June.
The margin of victory did not flatter Steve Cooper's side, who were superb throughout and could consider themselves unlucky to fall behind to a double from Barcelona forward Sergio Gomez.
Heads did not drop, and from the moment Wolves forward Morgan Gibbs White added to Rhian Brewster's eighth goal of the tournament to equalise, England looked the most likely to go on and win.
Phil Foden, an outstanding talent for Manchester City and the man of the match, stole in at the back post to put England ahead, and slotted in the fifth late on with a nieat shot.
Chelsea defender Marc Guehi also got on the scoresheet, prodding home the fourth from close range, as England avenged Spain's victory in the European Championship final back in May.
The stereotypical roles of the two nations were reversed, as England bossed possession and Spain looked to hit on the counter, a tactic that worked as Gomes twice profited from half-cleared balls inside the area.
Those goals were two of just five Spanish efforts on target though, while England had 25 shots on goal, 11 of which found the target.
Liverpool striker Brewster secured the tournament's golden boot with the header that put the game back within reach but it was the players just behind him who really stood out.
In player of the tournament Foden and Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, this England side had the players to seriously hurt Spain, almost at will in the second half.
Fulham right-back Steven Sessegnon also impressed, setting up the first two goals with powerful overlapping runs, while another major player, Jadon Sancho, was not involved at all after being recalled by new club Borussia Dortmund.
Sancho has already made his Bundesliga debut. How long until we see some of this squad playing in the Premier League? Foden, for example, was told by his Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola that he would have played in the League Cup this week had he not gone to India.

Are England on the up?

It may be 21 years since England's senior men's team reached the last four of a major tournament, and the Football Association may be having a bad time of things off the pitch, but on it, at all other levels, the signs are good.
England won the European Under-19 Championship with a 2-1 victory over Portugal in Georgia in July, the Under-20s won the World Cup in June, Aidy Boothroyd's Under-21s lost on penalties to Germany (some things never change) at the semi-final stage this summer and this Under-17 side lost the Euros final to Spain on penalties in May.

Under Mark Sampson England's women reached the semi-finals of the last World Cup and European Championship.
Does this victory mean that success for the senior men's team could be close?
Four years ago then FA chairman Greg Dyke said England should aim to reach the semi-finals of Euro 2020 and win the World Cup in 2022.
That may still seem a long shot but there is undoubtedly progress being made at youth levels.

Amazing! 30 Indian doctors separate twins joined at the head

Oleh 9jahive Blog - October 28, 2017
- Twins conjoined at the head have been separated by a team of 30 Indian doctors in Delhi
- The surgery which took 16 hours was sucessful, however there remains to be seen how the boys will fare
- The doctors say the process of reconstructing their skulls will come next
In the Indian capital, Delhi, twin boys who were conjoined at the tops of their heads have been sucessfully separated.
Two-year-old Jaga and Kalia underwent 16 hours of surgery, and are now in the intensive care unit.

The surgery was done by a team of 30 doctors and it is the first of its kind in India at a state-run hospital.
The boys were born with shared blood vessels and brain tissues, a very rare condition that occurs once in about three million births.

Randeep Guleria, the director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, told the Press Trust of India that the "next 18 days would be extremely critical to ascertain the success of the surgery".

According to BBC, Neurosurgeon A K Mahapatr said: "Both the children have other health issues as well. While Jaga has heart issues, Kalia has kidney problems.

"Though initially Jaga was healthier, now his condition has deteriorated. Kalia is better."

The doctors said the most challenging job after the separation was to "provide a skin cover on both sides of the brain for the children as the surgery had left large holes on their heads".

"If the twins make it, the next step will be reconstructing their skulls," plastic surgeon Maneesh Singhal said.

HOT NEWS: President Muihammadu Buhari Apologizes to law makers

Oleh 9jahive Blog - October 27, 2017
PHOTO: President Muhammadu Buhari with Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker Yakubu Dogara

The presidential dinner billed to hold Thursday night at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja failed to hold.
This is because federal lawmakers invited to the dinner were turned back by security personnel who prevented them from entering the state house, venue of the dinner meeting.
It was not immediately clear why the security operatives turned back the lawmakers from both chambers of the national assembly from attending the dinner which was at the instance of president Muihammadu Buhari.
Consequently, the lawmakers called-off the dinner meeting.
President Buhari has apologised to the leadership of the national assembly over the incident which the lawmakers considered as embarrassing.
However, both the president of the Senate, Bukola Saraki and the speaker of the house of representatives, Yakubu Dogara met with president Buhari at his official residence in the villa, where they explained reasons why federal lawmakers decided to boycott the dinner altogether.
The presidential dinner with the federal lawmakers has been rescheduled for Tuesday next week.

BREAKING: Six More Cases Of Monkeypox Confirmed

Oleh 9jahive Blog - October 27, 2017

The Minister of State for Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire has announced laboratory confirmation of six additional cases among the suspected cases of Monkeypox.
These include two cases each in Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom States, one in Enugu State and one in the Federal Capital Territory, making it a total of nine confirmed cases of Monkeypox in Nigeria.
Dr Ehanire who announced this today in his office said investigations are ongoing to see if any of the new cases have a link with the Bayelsa cluster, where the outbreak started.
READ ALSO: Monkeypox: Nigeria records 31 suspected cases in seven states
He called for calm among members of the public, as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) is working with all affected States to ensure case finding and adequate management.
He added that as frightening as the manifestation of the ailment may seem, no fatality has been recorded to date.
As at October 25, 2017, a total of 94 suspected cases have been reported from 11 States (Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Ekiti, Enugu, Imo, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Rivers) and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
He noted that the newly confirmed cases are patients already being managed by public health authorities and have been receiving appropriate clinical care since the onset of the illness.
The Federal Ministry of Health, through the NCDC, is in close contact with all State Epidemiology Teams, as well as the health facilities providing clinical care to both suspected and confirmed cases.
State Commissioners of Health have been advised to place all health care facilities and disease surveillance and notification officers on alert, to ensure early case detection, reporting and effective treatment.
Ehanire said, “A National-level Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) led by the NCDC with support from our development partners, is coordinating outbreak investigation and response across affected States.
“The EOC includes the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, as well as experts from partner agencies.
“The NCDC has also deployed Rapid Response Teams to the four States with confirmed cases. Measures have been put in place to ensure proper investigation of all reported cases, effective sample collection and testing, as well as case management of all suspected and confirmed cases. Risk communication activities have been heightened to advise the public as well as healthcare workers on preventive measures. A nationwide communications campaign has begun, to inform Nigerians of key preventive measures to take to curtail the further spread of monkeypox.”
Nigerians are advised to always wash hands with soap and water after contact with animals or, when caring for sick relatives, or managing soiled beddings.

NNPC Scandal: Osinbajo Clarifies Process Of Contract Approval

Oleh 9jahive Blog - October 27, 2017

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has once again weighed in on the controversy over the approval of contracts in the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.
The Vice President who had earlier said he gave approval to the NNPC to sign two loan deals, spoke about the issue at a forum which discussed ways of creating a better Nigeria in Lagos on Friday.

A letter sent by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, to President Muhammadu Buhari accusing the NNPC Group Managing Director, Dr Maikanti Baru, of insubordination and of ignoring the NNPC board in approving contracts, among other issues, had sparked the controversy.

The NNPC GMD had since defended his actions insisting he followed due process and that the President, who is also the Minister of Petroleum Resources, approved the contracts.
On Friday, the Vice President told participants in the forum that it is the Tenders Board of the NNPC that is meant to approve contracts and not the NNPC Board.
He said, “Is it the Board of NNPC or is it the Tenders Board of NNPC that approves contracts of a certain level? Is it the Board of NNPC or NNPC’s Tenders Board? Now, that inquiry was made in 2015 by way of a letter – and I am sure you’ve seen all of that. The answer that was given by the Bureau of Public Procurement is that the board referred to was the tenders’ board, not the Board of the NNPC.”

Concerning the probe of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Babachir Lawal, and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Dr Ayodele Oke, Professor Osinbajo said a verdict is expected from President Muhammadu Buhari soon.
“As for the SGF and DG NIA issue that the President will decide. I am sure that very soon we will get a response on that,” he said.

The Vice President also called on a new tribe of Nigerians to move the country forward.
He said, “To build a new Nigeria, we need a new tribe. A tribe of men and women of all faiths, tribes, and ethnicities, hard work, justice and love of country. A tribe of men and women who are prepared to make the sacrifices and self-constraint that are crucial to insist on justice. A tribe consisting of professionals, religious leaders and all others who believe that this new Nigeria is possible.”

NDDC SHOULD COLLABORATE WITH STATES, NOT COMPETE – GOVERNOR AYADE

Oleh 9jahive Blog - October 27, 2017

The Cross River State Governor, Professor Ben Ayade, has stressed the importance of collaboration between the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, and the different levels of government in the development of the Niger Delta region.

Governor Ayade spoke when members of the Board and Management of NDDC paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House in Calabar on Thursday.

The visiting NDDC team included the Chairman of the Governing Board, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, SAN, the Managing Director, Mr. Nsima Ekere, the Executive Director Finance and Administration, Mr Mene Derek, the Executive Director Projects, Engr. Samuel Adjogbe, and other directors of the Commission.

Governor Ayade declared: “We are not competitors. We are partners in progress and as such, all the states in the Niger Delta and the NDDC must work in harmony. It is always better to sit down and share thoughts.”

He lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing Senator Ndoma-Egba and Mr Ekere as the Chairman and Managing Director of NDDC respectively, describing them as astute administrators that belong among the finest in the region.

Professor Ayade said that Cross River State deserved sympathy because it was disadvantaged among the Niger Delta states. He explained that the state was the most disadvantaged among NDDC states in the areas of infrastructural projects.

The Governor appealed to the NDDC to support the state government in the development of signature projects in the state. He specifically called for collaboration in the state’s super highway and the Bakassi deep sea port.

Earlier, the Chairman of the NDDC board, Senator Ndoma-Egba told the governor that the Commission was working with a new attitude of cooperation and collaboration. He pleaded that the NDDC should not be judged by its actions in the past.

Senator Ndoma-Egba said that the Commission had invited the Presidency to re-activate the Advisory Committee as well the Project Monitoring Committee of the Commission to ensure that all stakeholders work in harmony.

He stated that one of the first decisions taken by the board was the re-activation of all dormant organs of the Commission, noting that the Advisory Committee was made up of all the governors of the NDDC member states and two other members appointed by Mr. President.

Senator Ndoma-Egba noted that it was necessary to revive the Advisory Committee because the NDDC must work with the government of the member states to ensure that they took ownership of its projects and programmes, as well as check the duplication of projects.

The Chairman said: “we believe that our projects must be monitored not only by us but by outsiders. We want to earn the confidence of our stakeholders. That is why we are auditing our systems to ensure that we are transparent. Before now, our processes were opaque. But, we have now opened the processes.

“We are thinking beyond oil, because oil is a finite resource and we all know that one day it will dry up or it will be overtaken by technology. So we have started the process of setting up a Niger Delta Development Bank. We must begin to see how we can fund development in the region from sources other than oil,” he declared.

Senator Ndoma-Egba said that the Commission was also preparing to build an Internet Network across the Niger Delta, stating that NDDC must be futuristic in planning for the development of the Niger Delta “We want to ring the region with a fibre optic network to deepen internet access,” the Chairman said.

The NDDC Chairman stated that the NDDC had completed 168 projects in the state, while 150 projects were on-going. He said that work was yet to commence on 75 projects and 20 were stalled.

In his own remarks, the NDDC Managing Director, Mr Ekere, assured the governor that the Commission would re-engineer its processes to accommodate more projects for Cross River State. He said: “In an environment where some state governors are saying that they don’t need more projects, Cross River is yearning for more. So, we will give them more.”

He said that the NDDC was not only interested in building physical infrastructure but was also helping to build human capital. In this wise, he said, the Commission recently entered into a partnership with the Nigerian Export-Import Bank, NEXIM, to set up a N5 billion development fund, where both parties would contribute N2.5 billion each.

WHO supports containment of rare virus on Uganda-Kenya border

Oleh 9jahive Blog - October 26, 2017

20 OCTOBER 2017 | GENEVA - WHO is working to contain an outbreak of Marburg virus disease (MVD) that has appeared in eastern Uganda on the border with Kenya.
At least one person is confirmed to have died of MVD and several hundred people may have been exposed to the virus at health facilities and at traditional burial ceremonies in Kween District, a mountainous area 300 kilometres northeast of Kampala.
The first case was detected by the Ministry of Health on 17 October, a 50-year-old woman who died at a health centre of fever, bleeding, vomiting and diarrhoea on 11 October. Laboratory testing at the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) confirmed the cause of death as MVD.
The woman’s brother had also died of similar symptoms three weeks earlier and was buried at a traditional funeral. He worked as a game hunter and lived near a cave inhabited by Rousettus bats, which are natural hosts of the Marburg virus.
One suspected and one probable case are being investigated and provided with medical care. An active search for people who may have been exposed to or infected by the virus is underway.
The Ministry of Health has sent a rapid response team to the area supported by staff from the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the African Field Epidemiology Network (AFNET).
WHO is providing medical supplies, guidance on safe and dignified burials, and has released USD 500 000 from its Contingency Fund for Emergencies to finance immediate response activities.
“We are working with health authorities to rapidly implement response measures,” said Ibrahima-Soce Fall, WHO Regional Emergency Director for the Africa region. “Uganda has previously managed Ebola and Marburg outbreaks but international support is urgently required to scale up the response as the overall risk of national and regional spread of this epidemic-prone disease is high.”
Marburg virus disease is a rare disease with a high mortality rate for which there is no specific treatment.

Notes to editors

Marburg virus disease (MVD) is a severe and highly fatal disease caused by the Marburg virus from the Filoviridae family; the same family as the Ebola virus. This virus is among the most virulent pathogens known to infect humans. The incubation period is 2-21 days, and symptom onset is sudden and marked by fever, chills, headache, and myalgia. Although MVD is rare, it can result in large outbreaks with high case fatality rates (CFR range from 23 to 90%). The disease is transmitted by direct contact with the blood, body fluids and tissues of infected persons or wild animals (e.g. monkeys and fruit bats).
In Uganda, the following MVD outbreaks have been recently documented:
  • 2007: 4 cases, including 2 deaths, in Ibanda District, Western Uganda
  • 2008: 2 unrelated cases in travelers returning to the Netherlands and USA, respectively after visiting caves in Western Uganda
  • 2012: 15 cases, including 4 deaths, in Ibanda and Kabale districts, Western Uganda
  • 2014: 1 case in healthcare professional from Mpigi District, Central Ugand

WAKACOME HEALTH: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MONKEYPOX

Oleh 9jahive Blog - October 26, 2017
The recent Monkey pox outbreak in Bayelsa State ans parts of southern Nigeria is the third in the nation’s history. There were a total of 3 recorded human cases previously in 1971 and 1978 according to the Centres for Disease Control, CDC. Monkey-pox disease The Monkey pox virus was first identified in 1970 as the cause of a smallpox-like illness in humans in remote African locations first discovered in 1958 when two outbreaks of a pox-like disease occurred in colonies of monkeys kept for research, hence the name “monkeypox.” The first recorded human case of monkeypox was recorded in 1970 in the Democratic Republic of Congo during a period of intensified effort to eliminate smallpox.

There were also reports of cases in Liberia and Sierra Leone. The following year, 1971, there was 1 case in Cote d’ivoire and 2 cases in Nigeria. Then in 1976 there were 2 cases in Cameroon and again in Nigeria in 1978, 1 case was recorded. Since then monkeypox has remains strictly a disease of Central and Western African countries, except in 2003, when 47  cases were reported in the USA.

The 2003 US outbreak is the only time monkeypox infections in humans were documented outside of Africa.  Most of those affected had close contact with pet prairie dogs.

The current outbreak in Nigeria is of West African origin and associated with milder disease, fewer deaths, and limited human-to-human transmission. Studies have shown that the monkeypox virus can cause a fatal illness in humans and, although it is similar to human smallpox which has been eradicated, it is much milder.

Following are things you should know about monkeypox:
MONKEYPOX DISEASES

Causes
Monkeypox is a rare disease caused by infection with monkeypox virus, that belongs to the same family of viruses that includes variola virus (the cause of smallpox), vaccinia virus (used in the smallpox vaccine), and cowpox virus. The natural reservoir  remains unknown.

However, African rodent species are expected to play a role in transmission. The Monkeypox virus can cause an illness with a generalised vesicular skin rash, fever, and painful jaw swelling. In previous outbreaks, it has led to death in about 1-10 per cent of infected cases.

There is no specific medicine to treat the disease, but intensive supportive care helps patients to recover fully.

Prevention

Measures that can be taken to prevent infection with Monkeypox virus include avoiding contact with infected animals  especially those that are sick or found dead in areas where Monkeypox occurs.

The public is advised to always wash hands with soap and water after contact with animals or when caring for sick relatives humans or soiled beddings. Health care workers are strongly advised to practice universal precautions while handling patients and/or body fluids at all times. They are also urged to be alert, be familiar with the symptoms and maintain a high index of suspicion.

All suspected cases should be reported to the Local Government Area or State Disease Surveillance and Notification Officers. “As long as universal infection prevention and control practices are strictly adhered to by all clinical staff, the chances of transmission are minimal.”

KEY FACTS

Transmission Usually  by direct contact with infected animals or possibly by eating poorly cooked meat from an infected rodent or monkey. Person-to-person transfer Possible  by infected respiratory droplets possible but not often documented.

Although infrequent, can be reduced or prevented by avoiding direct physical contact with the patient and having the patient’s caregivers wear gloves and face masks.

Diagnosis A history of  association with rodents or other animals and presence of pox lesions is presumptive evidence for a diagnosis of monkeypox.

Infectious-disease consultants and  personnel should be notified. Definitive diagnosis is urged. Risk factors Animal bites and scratches from infected animals.

Eating any meat from such animals is advised. Several species of mammals can be infected with monkeypox, even though the species had never been associated with the virus in their normal environment. Signs & Symptoms Fever, sweating, malaise,  cough, nausea, and shortness of breath. After 2-4 days  a rash with papules and pustules develops most often on the face and chest including mucus membranes inside the nose and mouth.

These  pox lesions can ulcerate, and then begin to heal in about 14-21 days. In addition, lymph nodes usually swell and some pox lesions may die.
