There was reportedly commotion in a village in Cross river state last weekend after a gorilla living in the wild met a farmer in the bush and followed him home. It was reported that residents of Bitiah Irruan village in Boki LGA of Cross river State all gathered at the farmer’s home to witness and see the animal for themselves as many said such incident has never happened before. Trying to figure out why the gorilla followed the farmer home, some said it was possible the animal no longer had food in the bushes, so he followed the man home, hoping to get food from there. Others insinuated it could be a sign of favour to the farmer, another said the gorilla lost his way while moving from Bumaji village to Bitiah where an NGO takes care of them. 3 Teenagers have been Caught for Sleeping With a 14-year-old girl

Three teenagers who slept with a girl of 14-year-old secondary school pupil, have been detained by men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). The suspects are; Osamudiamen Stephen, Osabuohien Aghimien, and Victory Osayomwan were paraded at NSCDC headquarters after the victim of the family caught them. Osabuohien, a mechanic apprentice, claimed the victim was his girlfriend, adding that he took her to the home of his friend for the night. He said his friends made a request to have se.x with the girl and she agreed. “I was there when they had se.x with her. When my friend said he wanted to go in again, she agreed. The Cross River State Governor, Professor Ben Ayade, has stressed the importance of collaboration between the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, and the different levels of government in the development of the Niger Delta region. Governor Ayade spoke when members of the Board and Management of NDDC paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House in Calabar on Thursday. The Edo State Government has earmarked 25 new roads for construction across the state in the coming weeks, as it intensifies efforts to deliver projects that will transform the socio-economic landscape of the state. Edo commissioning 75 airconditioned intracity buses in Benin Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Osarodion Ogie Esq., disclosed this during a chat with journalists, in Benin City, Edo State. Jamb Suspends Use of NIN for 2020 JAMB Registration

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has said it decided to suspend the use of the National Identification Number as requirements for the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and Direct Entry registration due to technical issues and stakeholders’ concerns. The UTME and DE registration is scheduled to begin on January 13 and end on February 17. Announcing this at a press conference in Abuja on Saturday, JAMB Registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, said technical issues regarding the registration system at the National Identification Management Commission was a major reason for the suspension.

Following the approval of His Excellency the Governor of Cross River State Senator Professor Ben Ayade for the recruitment of 2000 teachers and 500 security men for primary schools across the State, the State Universal Basic Education Board is calling for on-line applications from candidates of Cross River State origin who possess NCE or B.Ed. certificates for Teachers, and SSCE for security men. The Recruitment Portal will close by Midnight of Sunday, 30th September, 2018.

For purposes of clarification, candidates who had earlier applied for employment and had written the aptitude test conducted by the Board in 2016 are expected to revalidate their applications by registering for the recruitment exercise. The essence of this is for the Board to eliminate those who have secured other jobs during this period and to determine those who are still interested in the recruitment.

Candidates should indicate clearly whether they are applying as teaching staff or as security men. Prospective applicants are reminded that their certificates will be subjected to intensive scrutiny and verification exercise and those found to have tendered forged documents will be handed over to the security Agencies for investigation and prosecution.

The recruitment process will be in line with what is obtainable in the public service of Cross River State. Only qualified candidates will be communicated to through their email addresses and contact lines to appear for screening and oral interview on a date to be determined in due course.Applicants are advised to be wary of fraudsters who may want to exploit this avenue to extort money from very anxious and unsuspecting candidates. Please be informed that the Board is not collecting any amount of money for the recruitment exercise. Members of the public should be guided accordingly.
